Retinol Acetate | Vitamin A supplements should be kept out of each of children. Pregnant women should avoid supplementation with Vitamin A unless prescribed by their doctor. Vitamin A should be avoided by those taking the medication Isotretinoin (Accutane). |
Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D) |
Those with conditions of sarcoidosis or hyperparathyroidism should not take Vitamin D without consulting a physician. Should not be combined with the medication Rocaltrol (1, 25 dihydroxycholecalciferol). Excess Vitamin D may be toxic. Do not exceed recommended dosage. |
Ascorbic Acid |
In some individuals, extra Vitamin C may cause diarrhoea. Reducing the dosage will reduce this side effect. Supplementary Vitamin C may lead to excessive iron absorption and therefore should not be taken by those people with the medical condition haemachromatosis or iron overload. In some individuals long term Vitamin C may cause kidney stones. Those with a history of kidney stones, kidney failure, kidney disease or those who have a defect in Vitamin C or oxalate metabolism should restrict their use. Vitamin C should be avoided by those people who: * have a glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency * have had intestinal surgery * are taking the medications Coumadin (Warfarin) or Heparin |
