Method of Administration
| Intravenous Injection: |
Dissolve 250mg in 5mL Water for Injections Ph Eur (final volume 5.2mL).
Dissolve 500mg in 10mL Water for Injections Ph Eur (final volume 10.4mL).
Dissolve 1g in 20mL Water for Injections Ph Eur (final volume 20.8mL). |
Amoxicillin Sodium for Injection BP, when diluted may be injected slowly into a vein or infusion line over three to four minutes.
Amoxicillin mainly uses for treatment the infections caused by gram positive and negative bacteria which susceptible to penicillin. It is suitable to cure the diseases in poultry and livestock: fevers, losses of appetite, constipation, be laid up, short of breath and abdominal breath. To domestic animal's flu, nameless fever, the bacillary dysentery, acute gastroenteritis; pig's erysipelas, pneumonic plague, piglet's diarrhea, paratyphoid, sickness from E. coli, brucella, mycoplasma, leptospirosis; poultry's cholera, chicken's dysentery, salpingitis; the cow, pig's mastitis, endometritis, syndrome of milkless also has very good curative effect.
Intravenous Infusion:
Prepare as above and add to an iv solution in a minibag or in-line burette. Administer over 30 to 60 minutes. Alternatively the appropriate volume of iv fluid may be transferred from the infusion bag into the vial, using a suitable reconstitution device, and drawn back into the bag after dissolution.
| Intramuscular Injection: |
Add 1.5mL Water for Injections Ph Eur to 250mg and shake vigorously (final volume 1.7mL).
Add 2.5mL Water for Injections Ph Eur to 500mg and shake vigorously (final volume 2.9mL). |

INDICATIONS: The formulation of Amoxicillin, a bactericidal β- lactam penicillin antibiotic, and Clavulanic Acid, an irreversible β- lactamase inhibitor, is a bactericidal antibiotic, with a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity against Gram-Positive and Gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. The presence of Clavulanic Acid in the formulation extends the spectrum of activity of amoxicillin to include many β- lactamase-producing bacteria normally resistant to Amoxicillin and β- lactam antibiotics.
The combination is indicated for the treatment of :
- Upper respiratory tract infections (Sinusitis, tonsillitis, otitis media)
- Lower respiratory tract infections( pneumonia, empyema, lung abseess, bronchitis)
- Genito-urinary tract and abdominal infections ( cystitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, pelvic infection, gonorrhea and intra-abdominal sepsis)
- Soft tissue and dermal infections ( wound infections, animal bites and severe dental abscess with spreading cellulitis)
The combination can be also be used for prophylaxis against infections associated with major surgical procedures in adult, such as those involving the gastrointestinal tract, pelvic cavity, head and neck, and biliary tract. The injection should be reversed for severe infections
