Black Grass Jelly is a traditional food which is very popular among Asian.Black grass jelly is well known as dessert or beverage that usually served in chilled and mixed with other toppings. It has jelly texture and has dark color from dark green up to black. The color is depending on from which plant the grass jelly is made.
Grass jelly powder is a grayish-yellow powder substance, which can be dissolved in hot water, boiling water. The jelly made from natural black grass jelly is a brownish soft solid, with a smooth taste, special texture, chewing sensation and unique natural flavor.
It is created by using the Platostoma palustre plant (a member of the mint family) and has a mild, slightly bitter taste. It is served chilled, with other toppings such as fruit, or in bubble tea or other drinks.

Directions :
1 | Mix Grass Jelly Powder 1 pack and Water 400 gram, and stir well. |
2 | Bring it to a boil and stir until GRASS JELLY sticky ,then looks like Clear and Smooth. (It takes around 5-8 minutes) |
3 | Heat the mixture once again for 1 minute. |
4 | Take it off the flame ,Cool the liquid and leave it until it sets into a jelly! |
5 | Cut grass jelly into small thin cubes. (Jelly is now ready for use in any dessert you wish to use it in.) |
6 | Place Grass Jelly cubes in bowl. Add Syrup, Ice and Brown sugar topping. |
Black grass jelly is made by boiling the aged and slightly oxidized stalks and leaves of Platostoma palustre (Mesona chinensis) with potassium carbonate for several hours with a little starch and then cooling the liquid to a jelly-like consistency. This jelly can be cut into cubes or other forms, and then mixed with syrup to produce a drink or dessert thought to have cooling (yin) properties, which makes it typically consumed during hot weather. The jelly itself is fragrant, with a smoky undertone, and is a translucent dark brown, sometimes perceived to be black. Food coloring may sometimes be added to make it darker.
Preparation of other variants, known as green grass jelly, requires no cooking or heating process, only a mixture of leaf extracts and water. Jelly produced in this way has been described as having a leafy neutral or plain flavor.

Directions :
1 | Dissolve the powder into the cold water. Stir well. Pour the boiling water into jelly mixture and stir well. You will notice it will starts to get thicker. |
2 | Pour it into small serving bowl and let it cool. Once it is cool leave it to chill in the fridge. |
