Artemether Injection
Artemether injection is an anti-malarial product manufactured and used for the treatment of drug resistant strains of malaria p. falciparum and p. vivax. It can be used both on its own, and in combination (often with lumefantrine) for the treatment of malaria in both adults and children. Its active ingredient is artemether, which is a highly effective anti-malarial which has been shown to clear fever within 30-48 hours. For injections it comes as a solution, which should only be administered by your doctor or healthcare provider into a large muscle.
Artemether is a lipid soluble methylether of dihydroartemisinin. Artemisinin is a novel sesquiterpene lactone, extracted from the leaves of the shrub Artemesia annua and possesses an endoperoxide bridge which is a rare feature in natural products. The endoperoxide bridge is essential for its antimalarial activity.

Antimalarial drug. It is indicated for the treatment of all kinds of malarias, including the chloroquine-resistant malaria and the first aid of fata malaria. |
| Usage and dosage |
Intramuscular injection. Five days course with the dose of 480mg for adults: once (80mg) daily for five consecutive days with the first dose doubled. For children, the first dose is 3.2mg/kg bodyweight, followed with 1.6mg/kg bodyweight every time from the 2nd day to 5th day. |

ARTESUNATE is an artemisinin derivative prescribed for the treatment of malaria. Artesunate for injection is a sterile powder containing Artesunate. It contains not less than 90.0% and not more than 110.0% of the amount of artesunate (C19H28O8)stated on the label.
