Phytosterol can significantly lower cholesterol levels by limiting the absorption of cholesterol in the intestine, promoting the dissimilation of cholesterol and inhibiting biosynthesis of cholesterol in the liver. Besides, experiments on animals and human prove that phytosterol has anticancer functions, and also acts as antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antipyretics, growth regulation, etc. The FDA has indicated in a public letter that certain food products containing plant sterols may qualify for the following health claim: "FDA Health Claim - Daily consumption of a total of at least 8 grams of plant sterols in two meals may reduce the risk of heart disease when part of a diet low in fat and cholesterol. "
Phytosterol Ester
A yellow viscous oily paste at ambient temperature and above 50 º C it is a clear oil with typical fatty odor and taste. It is obtained by esterification of soybean phytosterols with fatty acids obtained from vegetable oil, and intended for use in the dietary supplement and food industry.
Stigmasterol
A finely ground powder of naturally occurring stigmasterol derived from Soybean oil distillates. This product is intended for use as an antioxidant in the dietary supplement food and Pharmaceutical industry.
Micro-capsule Phytosterol Ester
A fine powder is blend of soybean phytosterol ester, sodium starch octenyl succinate, Xanthan gum and Sucrose esters spray dried into a water dispersible formulation. It is intended for use in beverages and other aqueous-based food system, and used in dry mixes or instant product formulas.
